This portrait was taken at Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island, during a moment of unexpected connection with a curious swamp wallaby. I love the detail in the fur, with every strand catching the light, but it's the eyelashes that always grab my attention. Combined with the wallaby's steady gaze, they give the image a sense of character and presence that makes it one of my favourites.
